Mission Statement — The Melvindale Housing Commission is committed to serving the citizens of Melvindale in a positive professional manner. To offer quality affordable housing opportunities, and to maintain the highest of standards as well as a safe and comfortable environment. Public Housing (Coogan Terrace) — The Melvindale Housing Commission operates a 199 unit senior/handicapped Public Housing high-rise. This facility houses those who are low-income and are 62 years of age or older, or those that are low-income and are handicapped/disabled collecting Social Security disability. Coogan Terrace offers those that can live independently, the opportunity to live in safe, decent and affordable housing. We will strive to be the housing of choice for the low-income individuals in our community.
Section 8
The Melvindale Housing Commission operates a small Section 8 Choice Voucher program. This program was established to help low-income individuals and families acquire safe, decent, and affordable housing.
