Annual Lawn Inspections

Annual lawn inspections begin April 1st, in accordance with city ordinance (see below).

 

Sec. 23-55. – Notice of cutting requirements.

Property inspections shall begin on April 1 of each year. Locations shall then be noted by the commissioner of public works or his designated representative and the owners/occupants will be given written notice to cut and/or clean up properties.

If by April 13 of each year, the notice to cut is not complied with, such property shall be listed by the commissioner of public works to be cut under the discretion provided for in section 23-54 hereof.

The property shall be maintained in conformity with the standards set forth in this article not less than every five calendar days. Locations not conforming to the standards will be cut in accordance with section 23-54 hereof, and the property owner shall be billed at the rates established herein (see below for rates).

Sec. 23-57. – Rate charges.

(a)

The following rates are established for the cutting and/or cleaning up of properties other than that owned by the city:

Category A:

Residential lots: (per lot)

$300.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$600.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$900.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,200.00 for all subsequent cutting and/or cleanings.

 

Business lots: (per lot)

$325.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$650.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$975.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,300.00 for all subsequent cutting and/or cleanings.

 

 

Category B:

Residential lots: (per lot – hand mowing)

$300.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$600.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$900.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,200.00 for all subsequent cutting and/or cleanings.

 

Business lots: (per lot – hand mowing)

$325.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$650.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$975.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,300.00 for all subsequent cutting and/or cleanings.

 

 

Category C: (per lot)

$600.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,200.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,800.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$2,400.00 for all subsequent cuttings and/or cleaning.

 

Category D: (per acre)

$600.00 for the first cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,200.00 for the second cutting and/or cleaning;

$1,800.00 for the third cutting and/or cleaning;

$2,400.00 for all subsequent cuttings and/or cleaning.

 

Category E:

Multiple adjoining business lots

Appropriate charge for the first lot with each additional lot at 20% of the appropriate charge.

 

 

As used in this subsection, the reference to “first,” “second,” “third” or “all subsequent” cuttings and/or cleanings is to commence upon the effective date of this section, and shall be on a calendar year basis, irrespective of the ownership of the property.

(b)

An additional charge for clearing and/or removal of materials interfering with the cutting of such property, in accordance with section 23-52 of this chapter shall be established at the rate of:

$50.00 for any service charge, and $50.00 per hour per employee plus equipment, and disposal or material charges.

(c)

If the city incurs dumping charges for dumping of debris and other material which interferes with the cutting of the property, the city shall charge the owner the actual dumping fees incurred by the city.
