Public Library

The Melvindale Public Library is a vibrant community resource that was established in the current facility in 1950.  If you live or attend school in Melvindale you are eligible for a Melvindale Public Library card and all of the possibilities and wonders it holds. The Melvindale Public Library is a member of The Library Network (TLN) which unites more than 74 libraries throughout Wayne and Oakland County.  Through the shared system, libraries have the ability to inter loan items at no cost to our patrons.  With a library card, patrons may check out books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, Wi-fi hotspots and Chromebooks free of charge.  The Melvindale Public Library card allows you to connect to the Libby app where you have access to e-books, audiobooks, e-magazines as well as the Kanopy app where you can stream movies and Kids programming through your phone, tablet, or computer.  Your Melvindale Library card also gives you access to the Transparent language app and the ability to learn 120 different languages including Spanish, Arabic and ESL.  Throughout the year the library offers a variety of free programs for all ages including Story Time, Summer Reading Programs, and Family Game night among others.  Services offered include Copies, faxing, scanning, and wireless printing as well as computer and Wi-Fi access.
